From the airport of Málaga

By (rented) car

At the airport of Málaga there are plenty of cheap car rentals, including:

Hellhollis, Firefly, Hertz, Malagacar, Easy terra ...

ADVICE: the trail to our cortijo is quite steep and adventurous, so we recommend you not to rent the cheapest car. It's better a 1400 diesel or higher.

Travel directions from the airport - Ardeles - El Chorro

Take the motorway (ring road of Málaga) towards Antequera - Granada. Once you are on that ring road, follow "Parque Technologico" and Cártama. After leaving the "ring road of Malaga", stay on this autovía (A357) till the end.

Continue below: from Malaga.

By train (RENFE)

Just outside the airport lies the train station, line C1.

Here are two options:

  • by Cercanías train, with one correspondence

Take the train to Malaga city (to the train station of Malaga Victoria Kent). There, you will need to switch to line C2 (stay on the same platform, but on tnext: see from Malaga city (María Zambrano))
A ticket from the airport to Álora costs € 3.60.

    Itineraries and route: see below

  • by "Cercanías" train (line C1) with transfer to the train of "Media Distancia"

You can also travel up to the train station Maria Zambrano and there taking the Media Distancia train to Sevilla or Ronda, by the stop at El Chorro. (next: see from Malaga city)

    Itineraries and route: see below

From Málaga city

by car

Leave the city by the "Avenida de Andalucia", direction "Cártama" - "Parque Technologico - "Campillos".
Get on the autovía (A357).  After +/- 25km, this autovía turns into an ordinary national road to Campillos.

After this you have several options. We give two options:

  • over Ardales (+/- 1h15 +/- 70km)
  • over Álora - Vado de Álamo (+/- 1h10 +/- 60km)

* over Ardales

Stay on the autovía A357 until you passed the exit Ardales, on the signpost "El Chorro - embalses" (MA 5403), leave the autovía. Follow this road until a T-cross, take right still in the direction of "El Chorro" (MA 5403). Follow this road until the next T-cross (at the height of a dam). Turn left, drive over the dam, towards "Valle de Abdalajís" (MA 5504). On the next crossroad, turn right. Pass the train station of El Chorro and the Hotel La Garganta. From there it is about 4km or some 5 minutes drive; towards Valle de Abdalajís. It's quite a winding road. After this 5 minutes take the paved road on the left. You'll notice a boulder with a mailbox on it and even after a signpost "Sendero de la Huma." From here you'll see our own signpost: Don Camilo. Take this unpaved road for +/- 5min drive, about 1.5 km. At the crossroad, go straight on (the road in the middle). From here it is the 2nd on the right. Once you get on the 2nd right, you'll enter the domain.

* over Álora and Vado de Álamo

Stay on this road until the signpost "Álora - Pizarra" indicated  on the right. Follow the direction Álora until the signpost "Alora acceso nuevo". Don't follow this direction, but continue straight (A7077). Immediately after a curve to the right, you'll get over a bridge with sonar bands. Then approaching a roundabout, turn left (3rd exit) towards Álora and Valle de Abdalajís (A343). The road curved several times. At the next roundabout, go straight to Valle de Abdalajís, Barriada El Puente and Barriada Bella Vista (A343). Just before the big viaduct of the express train, turn left towards Vado del Álamo (MA3401), also there is a panel  indicating Restaurante Rocabella. Along this way, you have to go through a river, pass two road subsidences and go through a creek. Afterwards, you will drive alongside the tracks of the express train just before it enters the tunnels. At the end of this road, you get on a T-cross, turn left. After about 500 meters you pass the Rocabella Restaurant (on your rightside). From here, it is another 2 km straight. After these 2 km, you'll notice a boulder with a mailbox on it and even after a signpost "Sendero de la Huma." From here you'll see our own signpost: Don Camilo. Take this unpaved road for +/- 5min drive, about 1.5 km. At the crossroad, go straight on (the road in the middle). From here it is the 2nd on the right. Once you get on the 2nd right, you'll enter the domain.
